Description
NGR (leat): SS6543 9605 to SS6545 9600. Pentre Pit was probably working before 1748 and was certainly deepened in 1770. It may have had a water-engine. A steam winding-engine was probably installed by Lockwood and Company c.1800-06 and fed by water from a minor tributary of the upper Nant-Rhyd-y-Filais. The pit was closed in 1926.
