Description
A system of linear banks, cairns and hut circles lies on a gentle to moderately steep S facing slope between elevations of 360m and 420m above O.D. The remains cover an area of about 36ha and lie in a boulder strewn landscape with extensive areas of eroded, waterlogged peat.

At least 75 stone piles lie scattered over the site, mainly on the N, E and W. For most, no clear patterns are apparent in their distribution. A few are aligned with short lengths of bank and form rough boundaries. Most are composed of consolidated unsorted stones and small boulders. They present a wide range of shapes and sizes and it is almost certain that they result from agricultural activity. One, at SN97621092 (see NAR 59), possibly conceals a former hut circle.
Similar concentrations of stone piles lie nearby to the S, across the valley road.
