Description
Broad Street was shown as an "intended street" on a plan accompanying leashold documentation of 1840, while Boot Lane to the rear was shown as a "street" (private documents).

On June 28, 1860, the report was considered of the Committee appointed by the new Blaenavon Local Board to name the streets of the town, and "the following adopted as the names to be given to the several streets and roads". Broad Street was named and defined as "from the corner of Albert Street running NE-wards nearly in a straight line, about half a mile, to p[oint] where King Street and Queen Street commence" [Blaenavon Local Board Minutes].
