West Popton Camp is a sub-rectangular enclosure, about 80m NNE-SSW by 40m, the eastern side of which rests on natural scarps above Ferry Cwm, elsewhere being defined by a ditch and bank, with additional banks, or counterscarps on the north and south; an apparent outer circuit, which would also seem to have rested against Ferry Cwm on the east, is represented by a roughly 80m segment of bank and ditch on the south-west, some 40m distant from the central enclosure.
