DescriptionHeol-ddu is an eighteenth century gentry farmstead (NPRN 31610) with a main house of 1742/8 (NPRN 17427). The Barn, dated 1766/76, lies north-east of the houses, facing it across the farmyard.
This is a single storey range, originally lofted, with stone rubble walls and dressed stone quoins or angle stones. It has a large central doorway, matched by one at the rear, with blocked windows to either side and with inserted doorways at each end. There are three small loft openings above. Numerous blocked ventilator openings are visible from within the north-west gable and rear wall.
This does not appear to have been built as a barn and may originally have been a lofted stable. It can be compared to the rather earlier stable range on the south-east side of the house (NPRN 306670).
