Description
Heol-ddu is an eighteenth century gentry farmstead (NPRN 31610). The walled garden, now derelict, lies on the south-east side of and is later than, the stable range dated 1758 (NPRN 306670). It is enclosed by stone rubble walls standing up to 3.0m high and is about 42m north-east to south-west by 32m.
The enclosure is shown on the tithe map of 1847 and it could be part of the eighteenth century layout, possibly a kitchen garden. The northern end is shown subdivided and planted with trees on the 1st edition OS County series (Carmarthen. XLVII.4 1889).
