Talybont Dam is a part of Talybont Water Scheme (nprn 309928) built to supply Newport with water. The earth dam was constructed on the Afon Caerfanell and is 167.5m wide at the base, 426m long and the top is 29.5m above the river; it was officially opened on 29 June 1939.
