Description
The Hay to Brecon Horse Tramway: Glasbury Wharf Depot (Broomfield)

Built to carry coal, lime and other stuffs from the Brecon and Abergavenny Canal to Hay on Wye and Eardisley, superseding river transport. The route was initially surveyed in 1793, but construction did not begin until 1816 and the line opened in 1818. Later reconstructed as a railway, the line closed to passenger traffic in 1962.
The main depot was at Glasbury Wharf, now Broomfield, where the proprietor built a house (NPRN 405765). There are remains of bunkers and storerooms north-east of the house and of a trackside office (at given NGR: SO1834539389).
