Description
Berwyn Railway Viaduct is a six-arched masonry viaduct, built for the Llangollen and Corwen Railway (nprn 416546) in 1862, immediately west of Berwyn Railway Station (nprn 34753). The viaduct runs along the south bank of the river Dee and passes over the top of the later King's Bridge road viaduct (nprn 43123). A brook running down from Vivod joins the River Dee beneath one of the arches. The viaduct is constructed of coursed rubble and comprises six segemental brick arches. Along the southern edge of the viaduct, stone corbels support iron ribs upon which the station platform sits.
The viaduct is in use and currently carries trains on the preserved Llangollen Railway (nprn 416546).
