Site Description Wynnstay is an outstanding eighteenth to nineteenth century landscape park attached to the Wlliams-Wynn Estate mansion and situated on high land near Ruabon. It extends down to the river Dee, with views to the Berwyn mountains and the Vale of Llangollen. It contains an avenue leading to Ruabon, a lake and a number of water features, as well as lodges and other built structures. There is a Pleasure Garden to the east of the mansion by laid out by Capability Brown.

Documentary sources indicate that a deer park was first enclosed here in 1678 and linear earthworks south of the house and garden, presumably pre-dating the eighteenth century park, may be associated with this.
