Description
Once a house at the hub of a farm now merely a residence. Only the house itself and a barn survive intact. The house is fairly simple. Originally a single pile double fronted house it has been enlarged as some time by the addition of a rear kitchen extension and the re-alignment of the roof to cover it giving a kind of `catslide' profile. A once freestanding barn now abuts the corner of the rear of this extension. The fireplace at one end and the false balancing chimney at the other may have replaced a single fireplace in a more central position. It was probably a typical Pembrokeshire house at one time but evidence is not visible. Wall render covers any sign of modification to the walls. Inside it appears that most of the timbers have been renewed at some stage and a new central stair fitted, thought possibly near to its original position. The barn is less modified and is stone built with a slate roof. Roof timbers are modern and the upper floor is now gone but joist slots show its former position. A pitching eye or more likely in this spot an access door to the former loft survives. Beyond these two structures there are the remains of what is thought to be a bakery just to the S and what was a cottage a few metres to the SE - both shown as roofed on the 1908 map. A pigsty complex also shown on that map survives in a dilapidated state to the N of the farmhouse.
