Talgarth is possibly a medieval borough in origin and is laid out either side of a crossing over the River Ennig, with the High Street to the west and the market square, with the Town Hall (NPRN 23196) to the east. A tower, of unknown date (NPRN 16250) stands beside the bridge (NPRN 23763).
