Description
One of the earliest windmills on the island, Melin Llangoed was built in 1741 by Henry Williams. It is named as a corn mill on all three 25-inch O.S. maps (1889, 1900,1919). It ceased work in 1921 and the machinery was removed in 1926. In the early 1960s it was converted to house a water tank, with the cast iron windshaft supporting a floor. The three-storey rubblestone tower now has a viewing platform 7.2 metres above ground level, the partly broken away upper walls of the tower forming its parapet.
