"Mynwent y Milwyr" (soldiers' burial ground) is shown on early Ordnance Survey 6in and 25in maps. There is no record of a battle.
According to Glamorgan Gwent Archaeological Trust records, a battle is alleged to have taken place on Mynydd y Gaer; to the northeast, at a ford called Rhyd y Milwyr, many men were slaughtered. Date unknown. (no. 01463m)
