The Wern-isaf canal cutting an embankment is situated immediately east of Llangollen and west of bridge No. 44. This stretch of the feeder canal is noticeably narrower at this point as it cuts across the considerable rocky valley side of the River Dee. At Wern-isaf the canal and towing path was cut into the rock, the spoil from which was then deposited down slope on the embankment.
