Site Description Number 5, Whitecross Street is a small mid C19 house fitted in between existing buildings. It is not shown on the John Wood map of 1835. It is a two-storey rendered building with a painted front and a Welsh slate roof and red brick stack. The continuous fascia above and over the ground floor window, which is a canted bay with a plate glass sash, suggests it was originally a small shopfront. The upper windows are six over six pane sashes to the right and an eight over eight pane sash under an elliptical head above the garage door. All the windows have stone cills
