DescriptionIn 1908 the German-owned British Glanzstoff Company opened a factory in Flint producing artificial silk from wood pulp. In 1913 they changed to the superior viscose process, giving a better yarn. The Company went into receivership during the First World War and the factory was taken over in 1917 by Courtaulds who renamed it Aber Works and developed the site considerably. The site was rail connected using the siding which originally served New Flint Colliery. In 1957 the works, by then producing rayon, was closed and in 1980 demolished; small factory units have been built on what is now Aber Park Industrial Estate.
