The 1st and 2nd editions of the historic 25-inch O. S. maps, published in 1890 and 1906 respectively, both depict a woollen factory at this location. Tawelan Brook was impounded close to St Clears Road, and diverted into a 325 metres-long mill race to aanother mill pond adjacent to the mill. The building is still extant; it was on an L-shaped plan with three storeys, built of roughly-course small stone now mostly rendered, and converted into dwellings or flats.
