DescriptionA group of stone and brick-built two and three-storey buildings standing on the west bank of the Afon Gegin where it flows into Porth Penrhyn. They are reputed to have been warehouses for the general traffic of the port, though they have been called 'coal' warehouses. The buildings extend on three sides of a rectangular courtyard, open to the south, and all three editions of the 25-inch O. S. maps show that they were served by a sharply-curved siding from the narrow-gauge Penrhyn Railway which crossed the adjacent bridge from the harbour wharves. Conversion to dwellings has rsulted in alterations to door and window openings, and the roof of the south-east wing has been raised to incorporate a glazed clerestory.
The quay on which the buildings stand shows evidence of several phases of construction, including half of a blocked arch of unknown purpose.
