PeriodPrehistoric
DescriptionA group of 13-16 clearance cairns in an open area between uncleared ancient woodland. The whole group of cairns is contained in an area roughly circular in plan about 65m in diameter with a raised area forming a kind of enclosure to its south-east. The whole is defined by lines of boulders. The slightly raised enclosed area now contains a roofless field barn and and platform (to its north-west). Quite possibly the cairns and "enclosure" are related to early woodland clearance, conceivably prehistoric in date. The field barn and its associated platform overlays what was a pre-existing site associated with the clearance cairns.
