DescriptionAlyn Tinplate works covers an extensive site approximately 0.5 miles northwest of Mold; the works was established in 1878, a few years after the original Mold tinplate works closed. Mold Cotton Mill, built in 1792, originally occupied the site, and was in use until destroyed by fire in 1866. The government requisitioned the factory in World War II for an ordnance depot and was acquired by Synthite Ltd to produce formaldehyde in 1950. Drained factory pools and outlets lie in fields to the north-west of the site.
