DescriptionThese are the remains of late eighteenth century copper hoppers and orebins. They are built of rubble masonry with rough stone dressings. The most northerly bin the Slag Bin (SH45049341) which was used to store copper slag from the smelters. It was fed by shutes from Upper Quay Street above. The large roofed, central bin (SH45029338) was used to store copper ore. This central bin a has a wide arched doorway offset to the right (S), the walls have been raised and a modern lean-to slate roof has been added. In the rear lweft hand corner of the bin immediately to the south is the sole remaining shute. This bin and all others now have modern steel gates.
