A corn mill is depicted on the 1st edition of the 25-inch O. S. map of 1881, fed by two ponds in Maerdy park. By 1901, the date of the 2nd edition map, the mill was recorded as disused and the southern pond, adjacent to the mill, had disappeared. The building survives and is named on the modern Ordnance Survey map as The Old Mill.
