Cardiff City Stadium was built as replacement for Ninian Park Stadium, which was demolished in October 2009. Cardiff City Stadium is a sports and events venue, and is home to Cardiff City Football Club. The stadium forms part of a larger development at Leckwith, and is built on the former Cardiff Athletics Stadium. Work started in September 2007, with the official opening in 2009. The stadium has seats for 26,828 spectators. CMB Engineering and Laing O'Rourke were contracted for the construction of the stadium.
