The Pavilion was a large building, originally built by Lewis Francis, and containing a skating rink with part of the building used as a maintenance garage. Swansea's William Coutts took over in 1911 and opened the Pavilion as a full-time theatre. By 1914 the Pavilion was showing films and hosting live performances, but by the end of the war was re-named the Pavilion Cinema. Despite this, live performances continued up until c.1933 by which point the building was run solely as a cinema.
