Description
The probable course of the turnpike road, the immediate predecessor to the Holyhead Road (nprn 402349) built by Thomas Telford in the 1820s. It consists of a revetted terrace below the present road (A5) (nprn 402351) continuing for a distance of about 390m from the grid reference SH 6486 6059 at the south to a point where it merges with the present road, which presumably overlaid it from then on. The roadway is about 3m wide and the revetment up to 10m high in places. 290m above O.D.
