A woollen mill is depicted at this location on the 1st and 2nd editions of the historic 25-inch O. S. maps. Water from the Afon Bargoed Rhymni was held in a mill pond some 190 metres north-west of the mill, and supplied to the site by a mill race. On the 3rd edition of the maps, c1918, the mill is not named and there is no trace of the building.
