Description
A substantial house of Snowdonian plan-type with projecting kitchen chimney sited adjacent (N) to Eglwys-fach church. Ty-mawr is now divided into two cottages (Nos 1 & 2 Ty Mawr) but originally was a single dwelling with a central entrance passage between kitchen and parlour, both with end chimneys. There have been additions: a back kitchen has been added on the W side and another bay (S) beyond the parlour. The Snowdonian house is dated by a 1671 inscription on the partition beam in the chamber over the parlour. It is one of very few dated C17th houses in Ceredigion.
