The 1st, 2nd and 3rd editions of the historic 25-inch O. S. maps, published in 1889, 1900 and 1913 respectively, depict an active corn mill at this location. Water was diverted from the Afon Machno in the village, and passed along a mill race 850 metres long to a wheel on the south-west gable of the mill. The 1st edition map names an adjacent building as Factory Uchaf, a woollen mill (NPRN 423228). The building has been demolished.
