Description
The 1st and 2nd editions of the historic 25-inch O. S. maps, published in 1889 and 1900 respectively, depict a small building at this location, fed by an aqueduct 165 metres long from a stream to the north. About 400 metres to the north a dam holds hack a sizeable reservoir feeding this stream. The maps depict a wheel pit on the north-east side of the building. The 3rd edition map, published in 1913, depicts the building but not the aqueduct, and the quarry is thought to have closed in the first decade of the century.
