Description
The village of Rhostryfan is situated three miles south of Caernarfon. It has a primary school which educates approximately ninety children aged three to eleven and a newsagents. At one time the village had a railway station on the North Wales Narrow Gauge Railway (Bryngwyn branch). There were also four chapels in the village. Tabernacl Independent chapel closed on 15th April 1997 (NPRN 6911). Planning permission to convert Bethel Wesleyan Methodist chapel (NPRN 11904) was applied for in September 2012 and Rhostryfan Chapel had been converted to residential use by 2011 (NPRN 11601). Horeb Welsh Calvinistic Methodist chapel (NPRN 7050) is still open, although it now serves as a Baptist chapel.
