Description
Blaenporth is a small village situated two miles south of Aberporth and five and a half miles north east of Cardigan. According to the 1st edition of the 25 inch OS maps, published in 1888, there was a school and a smithy in Aberporth. The smithy had disappeared by the time the second edition was published in 1905, but the school was still recorded on the 4th edition of the 6inch Os map, published in 1953. The school does not appear on modern maps, although the village has expanded considerably since the early twentieth century, with modern housing spreading out from the village centre down Lady Road and Heol y Bowls. The religious needs of the community are served by St. David's church (NPRN 308996).
