DescriptionMelin-y-Wern is located in the lower Afon Leri valley, just above where the river enters the marshy levels behind the Borth coastal spit. It is depicted on the 1st and 2nd editions of the historic 25-inch O. S. maps, published in 1888 and 1905 respectively, as a working corn mill. In such low-lying land, the mill race supplying water was 790 metres long, and a 650 metres-long tailrace was required to return water to the river at a sufficiently low altitude. The mill has been destroyed and the site is occupied by modern sheds.
