Small fragments of wreckage remain, mainly airframe and exploded cartridge cases.

The remains of this aircraft are designated as a Protected Place under the Protection of Military Remains Act 1986. The Act makes it an offence to interfere with the wreckage of any crashed, sunken or stranded military aircraft without a licence. For further information on this Act and its administration with regard to aircraft, please contact the Joint Casualty and Compassionate Centre, RAF Innsworth, Gloucester, GL3 1RZ.

Event and Historical Information:
This Wellington was one of 550 delivered by Vickers, Chester, to contract 992424/39 between August 1940 and May 1941. It was assigned to 21 OTU and was being flown by a pupil crew on a routine cross-country training flight. A navigational error on breaking through the cloud cover - mistaking the Dyfi estuary for the coast they descended and crashed above Pennal into the Rhosfarch mountain on 17 August 1941.The crew of six were killed. A memorial plaque was erected in Pennal.
