Description
Mid C19 water-powered crushing mill, including wheelpit, part buried under spoil. The mill is 10m E-W x 8m N-S, of coursed rubble stone. The N wall is 2-3m high on a retaining bank, and has 2 truncated timber beams. The S wall bears 3 tall, but bent, iron bolts and stands up to 1.9m high. Adjacent wheelpit is 10m N-S x 4m E-W (2.3m wide internally), the walls standing 1.2m above the spoil infill. Tailrace at downhill end has arched outflow, but has facing stones missing and is part infilled. The river bank is walled below.
