Description
A lifeboat house, measuring 15m x 6m, with a ramp at its eastern end is shown on OS 25in 1st edition mapping. On 2nd edition mapping, a branch of the tramway leading from the quarry to the pier is show leading to the liofeboat house and the small dock on its northern side. A small building, measuring 9m x 4m, is shown to the south. The branch of the tramway leading to the lifeboat house had been removed by the 3rd edition, and the lifeboat house itself apparently converted into cottages with small porch extensions. Modern aerial photography confirms that these cottages have been demolished to provide access to the beach.
