Event and Historical Information:
The MARY was a wooden sloop built at St Clears in 1782. Technical and configuration specifications are given as 17 tons burthen; 35ft 5in length x 12ft breadth x 5ft 1in; sloop rigged with a standing bowsprit, square sterned, carvel built. At time of loss, the vessel was owned by John Davies of Pentrowin (?) in parish of Llanstephen. Teh sloop's Port of Llaneli Shipping Register entry (8 in 1837) is closed with the annotation 'Vessel lost on Saint Clear bank at Laugharne Sands in the month of Janaury 1862'.
