DescriptionThe Wyndham Pit was first opened in 1868 by John Brogden & Sons. Its early layout can be seen on the 1877 1:2500 Ordnance Survey map . It had various owners during its lifetime, including the Tondu & Ogmore Coal & Iron Co, North's Navigation Collieries, and Cory Brothers, who owned it at Nationalisation in 1947. Peak employment seems to have been in 1918, when 1,332 men worked at Wyndham and Wyndham Western pits. The colliery closed in 1984. Trysor 2011.
