The MARY was a wooden slopp built at Talacre Harbour, Flinthsire, in 1842. Technical and configuration specifications are given as 57 tons burthen; 47.4ft length x 15.8ft breadth x 7.6ft depth in hold; 1 deck, 1 mast; sloop rigged with a standing bowsprit, is round sterned, carvel built, framework and planking of wood; official number 10666. At time of loss, the vessel was owned by John Hughes of Tyddyn dai, Amlwch, gentleman (28 shares); John Hughes of Amlwch, master mariner (4 shares); John Wynne Paynter of Amlwch, esquire (8 shares); William Jones of Amlwch, Corn merhcant (4 shares); John Owen of Llanichydwrog (?), farmer (4 shares); Shedrack Owen of Cemaes, merchant (8 shares); Robert Parker of Blackpool, merchant (4 shares); and Richard Garden of Kirkland Mill, Lancashire (4 shares). Its Port of Beaumaris Shipping Register entry includes the document notifying the registrar of the loss - 'Amlwch, Anglesey, June 30 1865. I hereby certify that the schooner 'Mary' of Beaumaris, official number 10666 of 57 tons, Register port No 8 in 1852, was lost on the Scarweather Bank, Bristol Channel the 20th day of September 1864, together wth her Certificate of Register. pper Owners of the late vessel 'Mary'.
