Description
OS 2nd edition 25in mapping show a track running across the beach, west-east and rounding point to cross Traeth Dyrryn. Suggesting that this beach was used for beaching and offloading vessels and for Aberporth's small fishing fleet. Admiralty Sailing Directions dating to 1870 confirm that coal and limestone were occasionally discharged on these beaches - ' the bay derives some protection from that head (Pen Cribach) in westerly winds'.
