Description
This is one of a series of small coal levels along the lower slopes of Mynydd Maesteg, above Evanstown and the Dyfolog valley. It first appears on the 1st edition Ordnance Survey map of 1879, but is not labelled and is cut across by tramway NPRN 59678'. The hollow where the level entered the hill is still visible, as is the small spoil tip downslope, although the tramway and a later trackway run between them. The area of the working, including its level entrance and tips is about 50 metres north-northeast to south-southwest by 12 metres. J.J. Hall, Trysor, 10 March 2011
