Description
A six celled sheep fold. There is one large cell with a shepherd's hut and five smaller cells on the north side. The hut measures 3m by 6m and has no roof. The walls stand to full height at 1.8m-2m tall and 0.6m wide. The entrance to the hut is on the east wall. There is a chimney in the north-west corner and a niche or small blocked window on the north wall. The walls of the main fold stand to full height at 1.4m tall with coping stones and are 0.5m wide. Some of the internal walls between the smaller cells have partially collapsed. In some of the intact internal walls sheep creeps can be seen. Entrances to the fold are located on the south and east sides. Overall the fold is approximately 60m long by 25m wide. This site is shown on the First and Second Edition 6" and modern OS mapping. H. Leighton, OA North, 8th April 2015.
