The Christian Baptist chapel was built in 1837 but not on this site. This building dates from the late-19th cebtury. The site was vacant at the time of the OS 1/2500 (1870-5) map but the chapel had been built by 1899, in a styalised Lombardic/Italian style with a gable-entry plan.. It later became a Salvation Army Hall but had closed by 1995 and remained disused in 2000.
