DescriptionNAR SN91NE4
SN96831656 (centre of enclosure)
On a level terrace between the Afon y Waun and Nant Llywarch, lies a complex of structures comprising 4 (possibly 5) hut circles, an enclosure, 2 or 3 platforms and several stone piles and cover an area of some 2ha. Together they appear to constitute a settlement of uncertain date, but probably prehistoric.
SN96841647: 3 close-set hut circles, the 2 largest measure 5m in internal diameter, with rubble walls spread to 2m wide and up to 0.3m high. One has a small annexe forming a figure-of-eight. The third is 5m across, walls 0.2m high spread to 2m wide.
SN96861655: a well-defined hut circle measuring 9.5m in overall diameter, its spread rubble banks up to 1.5m wide and 0.2m high. Some 50m to the NW is a stone pile which was possibly a former hut circle.
SN96831656: an oval enclosure, 11m (E-W) by 8m bounded by a rubble bank 2m wide and 0.5m high with an entrance on the SE.
SN96831661: 2 likely platforms, the largest measuring 5m (NW-SE) by 4m and built out to a height of c.1m on their SE sides.
SN96801653: a linear stone pile 32m long (aligned N-S), up to 3m wide and 0.3m high, adjacent to which is a possible platform. A similar pile lies at SN96871645. A number of small stone piles lie scattered about the site. One, at SN96871660, is possibly a hut-circle.
