Part of the plateway system connecting various ironstone and coal levels on the NE slope of Mynydd Aberd're with a transhipment point on the Cwm Pit Railway.

1905 (OS 6-inch 2nd Edn.): "Old Tramway" shown running from a junction with the branch to an ironstone level west of Ochr-y-mynydd, a short distance S of the reversing junction with the branch from Winch Mawr, SE to quarries above, south-west of Pen-y-heol-gerig, shown in 1884 (OS 6-inch 1st Edn.) as served by a branch from the line to upper Cwm-glo. There is no indication of the tramway on the OS 1st Edn.
