Canaan Independent Chapel was built in 1840 and rebuilt in 1864 to the design of architect Thomas Thomas of Landore. This was modified and a schoolroom added in 1883 and then modified again in 1909, this time by architect T. Gibb of Port Talbot. By 2002 Canaan had been demolished.
