This small upright slab on Cefn Merthyr measures 0.6m high, 0.85m wide, southeast to northwest, and 0.25m thick. It is located as towards the south end of a cairnfield (NPRN 91955) and although recorded as a standing stone previously, the monolith was rejected as a prehistoric standing stone during compilation of the Glamorgan Inventory, published in 1976. When the area was surveyed as part of the Uplands Initiative by Trysor in 2012 vegetation cover was grass.
