DescriptionSalem Independent Chapel was built in 1840, rebuilt in 1855, 1872 and the final phase in 1896. The present chapel, dated 1896, is built in the Vernacular style with simple-round headed first floor windows. The chapel has a gable-entry plan, but is positioned side on to the road. The chapel is entered centrally in the gable wall via a porch/passage way. The chapel is two storeys and the pulpit is positioned to the rear of the chapel. A meeting hall is set opposite the entrance to the chapel and is connected to it by the conjoining porch/passage way. The meeting hall has a long wall-entry into a gable roofed single story building and is built in a simple round-headed style.
