Description
The present Wern Manor is built on the site of an earlier building, recorded in 1761 as being the property of William Wynn. In 1892, John Douglas, architect of Chester, remodelled the building. It has two storeys and attics and is built of local rubble stone with buff sandstone dressings. The main front is to the south and is deliberately asymmetrical. The grounds (NPRN 86512) are an early example of the work of Thomas Mawson, garden designer. The manor was used as a hospital during the First World War and is now an Home for the Elderly.
