Capel Bangor is a long and narrow village, extending approximately a mile along the A44 from Aberystwyth to LLangurig. It is located roughly five miles east of Aberystwyth. Capel Bangor has two public houses - 'Tafarn y Maes' and 'Y Tynllidiart.' There is also an car exchange service station and an 'exchange store.' Local children are educated through the medium of Welsh at Ysgol Gynradd Gymunedol Penllwyn. In 2013 there were 32 pupils on the school's register. Penllwyn Welsh Calvinistic Methodist Chapel (NPRN 7382) is located in the village centre, and St. David's church (NPRN 400459) is situated just off the main road, next to the old National School (NPRN 417024).
